About
I always knew I'd be a teacher...
Well, there was a brief point in my life when I wanted to be a ballerina and a plumber, but luckily I realized my true calling.
My name is Jackie Bell. I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Reading from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
In 2003, I joined the staff at O'Hara Elementary in the Fox Chapel Area School District. In my 14-year tenure, I taught first, second, and third grade.
I became Orton-Gillingham (O-G) Certified through the Children's Dyslexia Centers, Inc. (Pittsburgh, PA) in 2008. Since then, I have provided private O-G instruction to students in the Pittsburgh area.
I stepped out of the classroom in 2016 to become an Educational Consultant for Winsor Learning. As a consultant, I worked with teachers all over the country, training them to implement Orton-Gillingham instructional practices.
While I was traveling around the country training teachers, I realized how much I missed working with children. I decided to start a company that would allow me to use my passion and talent to help students in the Pittsburgh area. "Teaching from the Heart" was brought to life with the goal of supporting students who are faced with reading and writing challenges.
